Who doesn't like to get the look for less?! I certainly do and what better way to save money than with some Dollar Tree hacks! Today I am sharing three home decor ideas (that actually look high-end) you can make from the dollar store. This week I'm making vases, a vintage-style planter, and a large candle.
Let's face it, not all of us are DIY savvy. So, these DIY hacks are super easy and do not take too long. Check out my YouTube video below for the full episode!! The last one seems to be everyone's favorite!

How To Make These DIYs (materials used are linked):
1. How to Make These Vases
Materials:
Steps:
- Glue the base of the vase and candle holder together using E6000. I recommend using hot glue to hold in place (since e6000 takes a while to fully cure).
- Apply caulking around the seam and smooth out with finger. Allow to dry for a couple hours.
- Paint the interior of the round candle holder using pink spray paint (or any color). Flip the vase upside down (globe candle holder facing down) and spray paint vase black. Let dry.
2. How to Make This Planter
Materials:
- Foam floral rings (about 6)
- Hot glue & gun
- Matte Black Spray Paint
- Dirt
- Paper towel or old rag (damp)
Steps:
- Remove any tags. Glue and stack the rings together. You can make as tall as you want.
- Paint the vase. Let paint dry to touch.
- Rub dirt on the vase to get an vintage look.
- Wipe off excess dirt with a damp rag until you get the look desired.
- Insert a plant. NOTE: this planter is meant to cover an already potted plant.
3. Large Candle Bowl
Materials:
- Large ceramic or porcelain bowl (I found this one my local Dollar Tree. If you see it get it because it sells fast)
- Any candle/s to melt down (Dollar tree has small pillar candles)
- Large pot + water (see video at the top of this post)
- Candle wicks
Steps:
- Melt down candles in a stove-safe bowl over simmering water (SEE VIDEO ABOVE).
- Dip the bottom of the new candle wicks and place on the bowl (about 4-6).
- Use a long pencil or skewer to coild the top of the candle wicks. This will keep the wicks straight while pouring the melted candle wax.
- Carefully pour melted wax into the prepared bowl. Let cool for a couple hours.
- Trim down the wicks, leaving about 1/4" length.
