Looking to transform your small bedroom? Get inspired by this this bedroom mood board along with the before photos of my bedroom renovation.
It is finally time! Today, I'm excited to share a deeply personal project I've embarked upon—an intimate glimpse into the transformation of my small bedroom. Through this blog post, I hope to inspire you with my journey towards creating a serene, minimalistic, and moody space that seamlessly melds mid-century modern aesthetics with traditional charm.
Just because a space is small, doesn't mean it has to be neglected. A bedroom is a sancturary so it should be calming, inspiring, and cozy. That is the goal for this bedroom.
THE BEFORE:
Before we delve into the details of my bedroom makeover, let's rewind to where it all began—a space with immense potential but in dire need of a facelift. These "before" photos capture the raw canvas I started with, filled with untapped possibilities.
THE GOAL:
Every renovation begins with a vision, and mine is encapsulated in a mood board that serves as my North Star throughout this transformation. The mood board captures the essence of what I want to achieve: limewash painted walls, new lighting, plush carpet, an updated window, and a well-organized walk-in closet with the IKEA Pax system (not shown).
The Canvas: Limewash Painted Walls
The foundation of this transformation involves painting the walls with a limewash finish, a choice aimed at infusing timeless charm into the room. The soft, textured walls will create depth and character, setting the stage for the calming and moody atmosphere I yearn for. For the bedroom I am sourcing inspiration from my bathroom. The bathroom walls create the perfect balance of warm and cool tones while creating an artisanal feel.
Illuminating Ambiance: New Lighting
Lighting holds the power to breathe life into any space, and I've carefully selected fixtures that will not only brighten the room but also add an element of sophistication. I will need to hardwire for a new ceiling light. And don't worry, those funky ceiling details are going away. The interplay of light and shadow will play a pivotal role in achieving the desired mood.
Comfort Underfoot: Luxurious New Carpet
To enhance the overall comfort and aesthetics of my bedroom, I've chosen a plush, neutral-toned carpet. It promises to provide softness underfoot while maintaining the room's minimalistic appeal—a perfect addition to create a welcoming atmosphere.
A Breath of Fresh Air: Updating the Window
An updated window not only modernizes the room but also invites natural light and a stronger connection to the outdoors. The truth is this window needs to be replaced, however that will not be happening at this time. For now a fresh coat of matte black paint will revamp the window and ensure my space feels fresh and revitalized. Some new custom window treatments will help create the illusion of a larger window too.
Maximizing Space: IKEA Pax System
Small bedrooms often necessitate ingenious storage solutions. I've opted for the IKEA Pax system to revamp my walk-in closet. Its versatile design and organization features will maximize storage while preserving a sleek and tidy appearance.
Harmony in Design: Mid-Century Modern Meets Tradition
Lastly, in selecting furniture and decor, I'm striving for a harmonious blend of mid-century modern and traditional elements. Each piece, from the bed to the nightstands, contributes to the room's character and functionality while adhering to the overarching theme.
As I embark on this journey of transformation, I invite you to accompany me every step of the way. Together, we'll witness the evolution of my small bedroom into a tranquil and moody sanctuary—a true reflection of my style and personality. Stay tuned for updates, and don't hesitate to share your thoughts and ideas in the comments below.
Thank you for joining me on this personal adventure, and let's create a space where calming minimalism and moody elegance converge.
