BENEFITS OF LIMEWASH PAINT
- Eco-friendly: Limewash paint is made from natural materials and does not contain any harmful chemicals or VOCs. It is therefore an eco-friendly choice for anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
- Breathable: Limewash paint allows walls to breathe, which means that it helps to regulate humidity and prevent mold growth. This makes it an ideal choice for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
- Durable: Limewash paint is highly durable and can last for many years without needing to be repainted. It also develops a beautiful patina over time, adding to its unique charm.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS + MY EXPERIENCE:
Q: Does it look good on textured walls?
A: Certainly! I was a little hesitant at first because I mostly see it applied on smooth wall, but after painting my living room, I feel in love with the texture as it adds visual depth and character to the finish.
Q: How long does limewash paint last?
A: Limewash paint can last for several years, with some estimates ranging from 5 to 15 years, depending on factors such as climate and surface preparation. I did my bathroom first (about 3 years ago) and it is holding up great! I know I will get a few years more before re-applying. The living room was next, followed by the dining room.
Q: How do I apply it?
A: Check out my blogpost with the tutorial + more helpful resources here.
Q: Can limewash paint be used on any surface?
A: Pretty much, yes. Limewash paint is best suited for porous surfaces such as plaster, masonry, and stucco. It may not adhere well to non-porous surfaces such as metal or plastic. I have also used it other applications such as artwork, furniture, and lamps. In either case I always prepare the surface with an acrylic-based primer to ensure the limewash has something to hold onto.
Q: Can you paint over it with regular paint?
A: Yes, limewash paint can be painted over with another coat of limewash paint. If you want to paint over with traditional paint, I would recommend you go over it with primer first.
Q: Can you mix different colors of limewash paint?
A: Of course, different colors of limewash paint can be mixed to create custom shades and colors.
