A common struggle among many homes is lack of architectural interest. That's how it goes sometimes, but there are a couple ways to work around this without tearing up walls. One way is with pedestals. Often known as plinths, or columns, these 'stands' are a great way to add interest while display something beautiful. If you're a minimalist, or prefer simplicity, these are your friends!
On my YouTube channel I shared a video on how I made this one above using MDF board and limewash. The minimalist in me jumped of delight when I placed this in my living room because it was what I need all along - something minimal, but not another table.
I understand it's not always feasible DYing something like this, so today I am sharing 16 pedestals for all budgets starting at $50!
Why a Pedestal?
Decorative pedestals can be traced back to the ancient Greeks. Of course, they have transformed to different styles and material compositions with time. They also come in all shapes and sizes, buy are commonly 1' x 1' x 3' in dimension. If you've attended a wedding reception, art gallery, or museum chances are you've seen them display an important item.
The same applies in home design. Consider placing a vase, sculpture, plant, or any object that you feel is important. Not only will this enhance vertical interest, but it will make your space feel more intentional. Or, I guess I should say well-designed. Put your gallery-curator hat on and check out these plinths to set the perfect stage at home!
