After living in so many rentals and houses I now realize how expensive decorating can be. Over these years I have developed a list of affordable places to buy home decor and want to share it with you!
Let's face it, we all want a beautiful home that looks high end. At the same time we don't want to hurt our wallet. Every day I seek design inspiration from Pinterest and Instagram. With so many ideas for my place on hand, I want to save money where I can. These are my top 9 places I look for affordable home decor.

9 Affordable Places For Home Decor:
1. Target
Target is definitely the place to go for home decor because they are always keeping up with the latest trends at an affordable price. Of course, they have collaborations with some of our favorite design shops including McGee & Co. and Magnolia at bargain rate!
Pretty much everything from Target home decor is awesome. Some things I often stay away from are from the dollar spot because they can look cheap. That being said, there are often sweet finds from the dollar spot but they sell out fast!
Some Favorites Finds:
2. HomeGoods
Let's get this one out of the way. We all love HomeGoods. They carry products from our favorite designers at a discount! Of course products vary by location and inventory is always changing. Some of my favorite things to look for there are mirrors, lamps, and trays!
TIP: Rugs are great too! But, often times it's cheaper to order the same rugs online at RugsUSA. That's not always the case and it's nice to be able to see them in person.
3. Goodwill
Goodwill (or any thrift store) is a fantastic place to shop for affordable home decor! The inner DIYer in you cannot resist to get your hands on some sweet thrift flips. You can also find fabric (curtains, bedding, clothing) for your decor projects. Checkout my YouTube Channel for thrift flip DIY ideas.
Look for furniture - so many high quality pieces, some just need a new coat of paint or stain
Look for wooden trays, bowls, and such - timeless!
Look for lamps - sometimes they just need a new coat of spray paint and a lamp shade.
4. H&M Home
Surprisingly many people don't know about H&M Home, but they should! They carry lot's of on-trend items at a steal. Much like H&M fashion, its home decor is more modern. Much of their items will work with modern, Scandinavian, transitional, and maybe some boho styles.
Talk about sexy vases! Some of my favorite items to look for are candles, throws, and serving trays. Not all stores have the Home section but you can return most online things in-store!
Some Favorites Finds:
5. Overstock
Overstock is huge online! They are best known for having having a big selection. How sweet is this bench - total RH vibes! It would look good in an entry, bedroom, or even a living space. Only $200 (at the time of this posting).
Some Favorites Finds:
6. Amazon
We can't forget about Amazon! With millions of items to choose from, there is something for every style! Take some time to browse their Home Section and you will not be dissapointed. There's always deals going on too! I'm loving my wishbone chair and you might too!
Some Favorites Finds:
7. Walmart
To be honest Walmart wasn't my choice for home decor until recently. They have been stepping up their game in home decor (even men's fashion) and I'm here for it!
You can order online and return in store in case you don't love what you get! Things to keep an eye for are wooden trays, throws, lamps, and they even carry Yankee candles! My favorite thing of all time is this set of fringe towels for about $5 - such a steal!
Some Favorites Finds:
8. Dollar Tree
Yes, you read that correctly! Dollar stores have lots of smaller items that can easily be transformed into amazing decor. Checkout my video for these 3 Mid Century Modern DIYs.
Also, look for tealight candles and candlesticks!
9. T.J. Maxx
T.J. Maxx is another great store for super affordable decor and home items. Some things might be a little "tacky" but you can find great treasures.
Things to look for: candles, bedding, throws, and vases, kitchenware
Things to avoid: faux greenery, decor signs, and furniture.
I hope you found this list helpful! Curating a nice home does not have to be expensive. Leave a comment down below if you have more stores that you like to shop home decor from. It will help us all out!
