If you are looking to give a quick refresh to your living space then pay attention to your coffee table. Coffee tables are key elements in any living space. They anchor the room and allow you to put your feet up, well maybe. In our home, the goal is to have functionality yet bring interest to the space without it feeling overdone.
You do not need to have the prettiest table to have present a minimal arrangement. Here are three easy steps to bring simplicity your coffee table.

STEP 1. CLEAR THE TABLE.
You want to start with a blank canvas. Look around your room and note the colors, textures, and other elements that you love. The coffee table is a way to make the space cohesive, while adding your personal touch. Consider how you use the table, or would like to. Do you have pets? Children?
Look around your home for your favorite books, candles, and trinkets to style with. Some questions to ask yourself: Do you like to display your latest travel souvenirs? Do you have a green thumb for plants? What color tones do you enjoy? Are you into aromas? Do you enjoy snacks in that room?

STEP 2. ADD 3 ITEMS THAT YOU LOVE
Refine your collection to the top 3 items you find. This is a good starting point for curating a simple and functional table. Add more if you need to. Here I added beeswax candle tapers, a simple round tray and a nicely-edited architecture book.
There’s something wonderful about bringing natural elements to a space. I love to use 100% beeswax candles in my coffee table because they provide a rich, yet soft, scent without having to light them – ever. Consider using your latest book obsessions, a small faux sheepskin for the lower tier, and a tray to catch your remotes. BUDGET TIP: display free store catalogs along with your favorite magazine, dry branches from your yard, or even baskets to style with your children in mind.
STEP 3. STIMULATE THE SENSES WITH SCALE AND TEXTURE
With good lighting you can count on live plants to bring green to your room. Consider using a generously sized planter to make the table appear larger and host more little ones. Fresh greens, or faux if you don't have a green thumb, bring good energy to the space. Do you like to put your feet up? Don’t be afraid to protect your table and add texture with a sheepskin rug.
Think of your table as a story you want to tell. Stimulate the senses to tell your story. Use candles to satisfy the nose, maybe a chic bowl with your favorite seasonal fruit. I like to set out a pretty board game or deck of cards to work out the brain. A pop of color never hurts!
